Frued. Erikson. Piaget. All excellent models of those who have crafted theories on stages of human development. Whether it’s mentioning the black and white a child sees when it comes to rules or something more in particular, such as how a child’s stages of life can influence every aspect of their lives in the future. As I reflected back on my short time in ISM this semester, I found myself maturing, even feeling drastically different than I did last month. I felt myself looking forward to various aspects of ISM, feeling eager to take on what was next.
After the symposium, I met with Dr. Ahmad for my first interview, as I mentioned in my last blog. However, I knew I couldn’t stop there and cheat myself. Instead, I took the momentum from the first interview and used it to secure my second interview with Dr. Heena Khan. My interview with Dr. Khan was extremely informative, and we went over several concepts of being an anesthesiologist, with an emphasis on the legal side. I learned about Tort Law in the state of Texas, and how it can protect an anesthesiologist in the case one is sued. After an hour of conversation, I felt more excited than ever, ready to take on my next challenge.
Eager to continue working, I continued to reach out to more professionals, cold-calling and emailing left and right. I am determined to secure another interview, whether it’s through reaching out to 1 professional, or reaching out to 50 to receive a response back. I am eager for the rest of ISM, knowing I can now handle whatever curveball the year may throw at me.
